Open Day: Inside Eilbeck Shredders’ First Live Line Demonstration

On Friday 14 August, the Eilbeck Shredders team opened the doors at Ingleburn to a full house.

Around 100 people came through – clients, suppliers and industry leaders in waste – for a proper look at what the workshop, and the team, can actually do. Among the guests were Mark Romano, President of Quantum Power, and Dan Burda, Senior Consultant for Shredders. NSW Minister for Industry and Trade Anoulack Chanthivong MP and Independent Federal Member for Fowler Dai Le MP also attended, both representing areas where Eilbeck employs members of the local community.

The centrepiece was the Quantum Power Waste-to-Energy line, running live on the floor. Guests watched 6-foot OTR tyres, plastic and timber pallets, and large cardboard bales going through the shredders and moving through the full processing line, before the system ships to North Carolina.

The day gave visitors the chance to get up close to the machines, speak to the engineers who designed and built them, see the Eilbeck Heavy Engineering facility and share a BBQ with the team.

More than anything, the open day was a chance to show what “Australian manufacturing” looks like in practice – direct access to the team, machines you can walk up to, and a full working line built on-site in Sydney.
